Found today on the tideline near the posts across the beach between the carpark at Ynys Las and the Leri.
I think its a first winter by the amount of yellow on the bill and its buffy front. It had a hole beneath one armpit where the feather shafts were cleanly severed and a small wound on its head size of a lead shot. Until I look further I can't say it has been shot but it is very fresh, not water-logged. I wondered if a peregrine strike could make such a wound?
Breeding in north and eastern Europe they don't come to our shores often and so sad it wasn't bobbing alive in the waves today.
