Long-tailed duck Ynys-hir
Following a report from a visitor of a long-tailed duck I went down to the Domen las hide. At first I could not find it but I eventually found it far to the left of the hide drifting slowly downstream with a few goldeneye. Very nice in the scope and it is rather a scarce bird in the county too. Earlier, following an absence of Greenland white-fronted geese records I managed to find the flock on the estuary with a minimum of 48 counted (distance, a strong wind and an obscuring flock of Canada geese did not help the counting). Also a ringtail hen harrier and at least 6 black-tailed godwits feeding on Morfa Cud.
