Bits and pieces

Yesterday, in bright sunshine and with a free pass from the wife, I ventured out for some birding. Cors Caron was rather quiet with 16 tufted ducks on Maesllyn pool the only species of note. At Cross Inn forest I had superb views of 9 crossbills including 3 singing males. The Iceland gull was at New Quay and there were 16 red-throated divers and a red-breasted merganser at Llanon and 13 Red-throated divers off Llanrhystud. At Borth/Ynyslas there were 48 red-throated divers, 26 common scoter, 7 great crested grebes and, the highlight of the day, 2 slavonian grebes off Ynyslas turn.
