Lucky to see some immense flocks of Starlings again flying to roost this evening near Talgarreg. One or two smaller flocks looked to contain a few hundred birds but then the main swirling mass arrived. Not once, but twice. Each trailed back a huge distance and clearly comprised many thousands since they utterly dwarfed the first little groups. All in all there could easily have been 50000 in total, but who can say for sure?
Earlier there were also sizeable groups of Lapwing(300) and Golden Plover(500) nearby at Capel Cynon.
