More manxies and a bit of variety at Ynyslas

Huddled in the lee of one of the groynes at Ynyslas turn I carried out some counts of the manx shearwaters this morning. From 0545am to 0630 they were moving south at the rate of 200 a minute and from 0630 to around 0715 at 150 a minute (totalling 15750 south). Some 380 gannets and 140 sandwich terns also headed south. Rather disapointed with the lack of variety (not even one balearic)I headed to the mouth of the Leri (the rather cold wind had thankfully reduced the number of dog walkers). Here there were 73 ringed plover, 320 dunlin, 5 sanderling and 3 turnstone. 120 sandwich terns (64 juveniles) and an adult little tern were nice as were 5 meditteranean gulls (4 adult and 1 2nd summer).
