A steady southward passage of hirundines was taking place as I arrived at the beach car park at Llanrhystud. The birds were milling around high above the coastal slopes to the north then dropping down and passing low along the coast and sea. I estimated about 60% House Martins, 30% Swallows and 10% Sand Martins.
Approaching the drying-out remains of the flooded field I experienced a sense of deja vu on finding two Little Ringed Plovers probing around in the mud there.
On the beach: 54 Turnstones, 20 Ringed Plover, 3 each of Sanderling and Dunlin.
At Tanybwlch, 19 Ringed Plover, 6 Turnstones and a Common Sandpiper. Also, good numbers of Pied Wagtails, at least 10 Rock Pipits and around the same number of Wheatears.
