after the rain
Popped down to Llanrhystud after lunch. There were about 200 Mediterranean Gulls in the fields and on the shore. One of these was tangled up in fishing wire. I managed to catch it but couldn't untangle the mess so ended up breaking the plastic wire as close as I could to the leg before setting it free. Hope this was the best thing to do. I was afraid of injuring the bird further otherwise. Chiffchaff and Whitethroat still present at the lime kilns and a few waders.
At Llansantffraed I went looking for the Rose coloured Starling, a species I've not seen before. After about 10 minutes I came across the village Starling flock along with their pale pink friend on telephone wires, exactly as depicted previously in this blog. Fab. A very approachable bird for anyone who is interested in seeing one.
