Two Red-throated Divers on the sea at Borth this morning were still in full summer plumage. I think they are the first of the autumn, unless anyone else has had any recently.
Also 24 Sandwich Terns flew south. Not much else at sea except for 12 Common Scoter and a light passage of Gannets, ca 30 in total.
After a fruitless visit to Ynyslas I moved on to the Clettwr. A Kingfisher flew upriver, then as I was looking over to the pools at Morfa Cyd, there was quite a commotion as about 70 Teal and a few waders, including a Black-tailed Godwit were flushed. The culprit was a juvenile female Marsh Harrier which entertained me for about 45 minutes before crossing the river and heading towards Ynyslas.
A Greenshank on the riverbank then flew over to the pool from which the harrier had flushed everything, so I concentrated my efforts over there and eventually came up with 4 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Greenshank and 2 Snipe.
