A fairly brief visit to a gloomy Llanrhystud this morning. Around 400 Swallows were resting on the fence wires when I arrived, though they soon took off to continue their journey south, along with a few House Martins.
A flock of ca 110 Linnets were roaming around near the beach car park, and a stubble field near the main road held 52 Greylags and 6 Canada Geese.
A large flock of Mediterranean Gulls, 200 at a rough estimate, were on a field near the lime kilns, but as I was setting off to get a little closer in order to count them they were disturbed by a dog walker and flew onto the sea. I made a half-hearted attempt to do a count, but as the sea was choppy and the wind was blowing the rain into my face and optics, I did not persevere. Obviously getting soft in my old age.
