A brief visit to New Quay Head 7 Sept, 13.15-14.30. Not the best time of day and not the best weather in terms of bird movements so was pleasantly surprised to see the following:
Manx Shearwater c150
Arctic Skua 2
Sandwich Tern c25
Black Tern 1
Peregrine 1
Chough 3
Also three pipits flew over which as far as I am concerned were Red-throated - based on the very distinctive call with which I am very familiar from living in Oman for so many years. But since the claim is never going to get past any rarities committee (quite rightly) they will have to remain as Anthus sp. But keep your ears skinned, as it were. Not sure if others have been reported from elsewhere in UK this week but this is the season.
