Yesterday at New Quay
Another early morning yesterday at New Quay. Arriving there at 0630am I sea-watched till about 0930. Three arctic skuas went south, quite a way off-shore and a superb adult pomarine skua with spoons flew south quite close in. Very little else went through with very low numbers of manxies and gannets though kittiwake numbers were reasonable. Other odds and ends included 17 sandwich terns south, 42 dunlin, a ringed plover and a flock of 11 redshank. The weather looks very good tomorrow for a sea-watch but as I have a meeting in work at 10am I will have to give it a miss and have a well earned lie in.
