Had a definite sighting of a Bittern on Tregaron Bog today (Saturday).
The bird was on the
water's edge in the nearest artificial lake by the bird hide near the Fflur
river. It was about 20 to 30 yards away and did very little for the 10 minutes
that we watched it. It was about 4.15 pm and we still had to walk back to
Swyddffynnon.
I have seen a bittern on the bog before but not for a few years
now and people said that the birds came west to avoid the cold easterly winds.
That is also the weather we have just experienced over the last week. I wonder
if anyone else has seen this Bittern or am I the first to report a
sighting.
