After a post work dash to see the splendid drake Garganey at Newport Pembs (See PembsBirds), a wander into South Ceredigion.
At Mwnt, 4 Wheatear, 1 Chiffchaff, and 2 Gannets flying north the only signs of passage.
At the Teifi mouth, a walk towards Cardigan Island. 1 Stonechat was the only passerine of note, two Turnstones the only waders. But on the sea four Red-throated Divers, 1 in full breeding plumage ! Divers are rarely reported from the Teifi area.
On to Patch where 17 Ringed Plovers and 11 Dunlin were roosting.
All quiet on the marsh, just 1 Chiffchaff for me this evening, but a couple of photos taken by Tommy from Kingfisher Hide whilst on the reserve earlier today.
This Chiffchaff with ring EAH.... was almost certainly ringed on the marsh...
We have ringed 274 Chiffchaffs with EAH.... rings since 6th August 2011
With 119 ringed in during peak autumn passage September last year.
