Llanrhystud to Llanon

A little taste of spring this morning with small numbers of swallows and sand martins heading north, a few chiffchaffs scattered along the coast and a male and female blackcap in stream side bushes below Llanon church.  Three whimbrel were amongst the more familiar waders and there were at least three med gulls amongst a flock of black headed gulls that were feeding on fish scraps being left by a seal.  Five sandwich terns stopped briefly at the point before continuing north.  A flock of alba wagtails on the muck heap by Llanrhystud beach car park contained 5 whites and there were approximately 20 wheatears, in small flocks and singles dotted along the coast.
