The Rheidol valley field trip yesterday spurred me on to visit Ynys Hir today even though the weather wasn't so good. The new boardwalk was very impressive and the sedge warbler near by staking out his territory took no notice of the swallow that was determined to put him off. He finally decided he'd had enough and dropped down into the vegetation. The morning had been successful with a good sighting of a lovely male pied fly catcher who was very tame and decided to escort us for a while along the fence.Lastly there was a buzz of excitement back at the car park .No it wasn't the Springwatch presenters it was the sound of a wood warbler calling. We need to wait a few more weeks it seems for the BBC to arrive en mass! It was good to meet you yesterday Bob and thanks for the introduction to the call of the wood warbler !
