Flocking House Martins

Re : the report from Chris about flocking of Starlings. For the last two days we have had a large flock of House Martins hunting over our fields and resting on the overhead electricity wires. This behaviour we normally expect in late summer prior to migration. Is it preparation for an early migration or is it a flock of late  spring arrivals?
