These 3 were seen by Chris Bird at Aberystwyth:
13th July: White E336, ringed as a chick on 20th June 2011 in the Netherlands at Zeeuws-Vlaanderen and next seen soon after in Dungarvan harbour, Co. Waterford in Ireland on 26th August 2011.
Last summer it was seen by Liz Snell at the coast near Llansantffraed on 26th July.
18th July: White E438, ringed as a chick on 29th May 2010 near Antwerp, Belgium. It was last seen there on 20th June that year and was back, close by on 16th June 2011. I then saw it at Llansantffraed on 20th September 2011.
The next sighting was near Antwerp in late April and early May 2012 and then at Lodmoor, Weymouth, Dorst from 4th to 22nd September 2012. It then made its way to Estremadure on the coast of Portugal and was seen there on 13th January 2013.
24th July: Green R69J, ringed as a chick on 11th June 2010 at the Pas de Calais, France. It was next seen at Vendee, France on 19th April 2011 and then at Pontevedra, Spain on 26th January 2012. It was seen the in the Maine-et-Loire area of France in March and May 2013 before coming to Aberystwyth. This is not the first example I have seen of a bird migrating west and slightly north to us before making its way south to Spain or Portugal.
