Great tit/Dragon Fly
Walking between the new car park and start of board walk atCors caron on the 26th August 2013-08-26, at 1120am in fine sunny and warm weather my wife and I saw an Emperor dragonfly(Anax imperator) flying towards us, we stood aside to let it pass, as it did so from out of the shrubbery on the west side of the track a small bird size shape and colour suggestedjuv Great tit (Parus major) one had been heard calling a few seconds before appeared to ambush the dragonfly. The bird flew across the track and the dragonfly had disappeared .We waited a few minutes to see if the dragon fly returned to its patrolling but it appeared to have vanished . We can only assume that the dragonfly was taken by the bird though whether by accident or design we will never know. I have seen a Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) take a Emperor dragonfly and House sparrows(Passer domesticus) attacking Broad bodied chasers(Libellula depressa). But this was quite unexpected.
