Eagles in Wales

Good old Eddie (or should it be Edith? I don’t care much where he/she came from but I can tell you that taking my grandchildren to see him on their visit to us from Ireland in August was the highlight of my and their summer. At 8 and 6 years of age respectively they were absolutely thrilled that on our visit to Cors Caron we managed to see him/her soaring over the ridge. A magnificent sight!

This all begs the question of whether Wales has the necessary habitat and potential territories to support pairs of Eagles and, if so, why there have been no introduction programmes such as those in Ireland. Eddie has survived for a number of years in the Tregaron area and seems to be thriving.
