YNYS-HIR, YNYSLAS and ABERYSTWYTH

Bob, Harry and I went to the new hide, Ynys Feurig, at Ynys-hir this morning and a good selection of birds included 2 Ruff and 2 Curlew Sandpipers.
Before we left the reserve we had a good view of the Spotted Crake and I wish that someone with a decent camera would take a good photo of this smashing bird which could go into the County archive and Bird Report.

Earlier Harry had been to Ynyslas and noted a Merlin, 11 Knot, 13 Grey Plovers, hundreds of Dunlin and oddly, no Ringed Plovers. Bob and I had been to The Turn for fairly close views of Common Scoters and Red-throated Divers. Harry had begun the day at Aberystwyth where there was a surprisingly large count of waders on the beach by the castle: 54 Oystercatchers, 27 Ringed Plovers, 20 Turnstones and 4 Dunlin
