Neat Robin

This morning I noticed a Robin landing on a plant  pot on the patio and carefully depositing something in it, a closer look revealed a faecal sack. I have only seen them dropped in flight previously.

Other birds on the feeders, Goldfinch numbers are beginning to fluctuate, perhaps it's dandelions coming to seed or nesting, but it's about the same time every year. Siskins and Redpolls (about 6) are still regulars. The Siskins generally keep coming until later in the summer, when, having brought their fledglings along, they are generally absent until after Christmas.

After the very severe winter a couple or so years ago we were Wren-less. This year we have had a very active and vociferous male and it has paid off; we have noticed the pair of them carrying nesting materials to their chosen spot in the laurel hedge.
