This morning's field trip

I thought the morning field trip went well considering there were few birds for us to see.I hope that someone  else kept a mental list of our sightings .I can report seeing a Gannet,at least 5 Cormorant flying up the Dyfi for Sunday lunch! two groups of Sanderling ,A Curlew also flying up the Dyfi being chased by a Cormorant!, A solitary Stonechat showing very well on bramble in the dunes.3 newly fledged Jackdaw ??, 5 Sand-martin,5 Meadow pipit on the Leri estuary,2x2 Oystercatcher and the nest of 3 eggs belonging to one pair ,amazingly positioned on the point intertidal zone ,in a very shallow sand scrape. One of our group was very observant as they were so well camouflaged and could easily have been scrambled underfoot as we were all scanning the sky and horizon at the time.9 species in all!
We were also privileged to see many Cinnabar moth caterpillar, many Gatekeeper  butterfly (a first for me)and orchid with a possible Pyramidal and a definite Marsh Helleborine. There was a great deal of flora to be seen and I just wished that I could have stayed for the afternoon. Many thanks Red and everyone who were so helpful .I think we were 12 in number not, counting the fox that was seen skirting the back of the Sea Rivers Park.
