Castle Point, Aberystwyth

The mist had just about cleared when I arrived at Aberystwyth at 7:40, and when I left at 9:10 it was a glorious sunny morning.
On the rocks at Castle Point were five Ringed Plover and four Turnstones, later joined by a Redshank. Over on College Rocks, 27 Mediterranean Gulls.
Offshore, Manx Shearwaters were going north at about 1600 per hour, based on a sample 15 minute count. Also, about 15 Gannets, eight Kittiwakes, six Common Scoter, four Sandwich Terns and an early Common Gull.
Most unusual was the sight of a skein of 25 Greylag Geese, picked up over Clarach Bay, which passed directly over my head on their way south.
