Cross Inn Forest and Llyn Eiddwen

A feeling of spring in the air as I walked into Cross Inn Forest this morning.  A male Crossbill and a Goshawk was an excellent start, but that was as good as it got.  No sign of the shrike.
A short drive to Llyn Eiddwen where I found the redhead Smew almost immediately, dwarfed by a nearby Goosander, (seven in total)  and a Great Crested Grebe. Just a single female Tufted Duck present and a couple of Great Black-backed Gulls were loitering at the southern end of the lake.
