A good start to the outing, as a Peregrine flew low over the railway station in Aberystwyth, heading coastwards.
I had a look for Arfon's Lap Bunts at Llanon, but could only find Skylarks and a few Reed Buntings and Meadow Pipits, though it was difficult looking into the sun, and only the Skylarks were calling.
A walk north along the beach produced 15 Turnstones, 76 Curlews, four Redshank, three Grey Plover and a Golden Plover.
A smart male Merlin was perched on the ground near the point. On the way back, no fewer than 22 Red Kites were circling low over the gardens at Llansantffraed.
