YESTERDAY'S MERLIN and TODAY'S PURPLE SANDPIPERS

The Merlin at Llanon yesterday which Harry and I both photographed, as he said, at some distance, took off just as I was taken a further (poor) photo.
Its wings are not quite in line with each other but nevertheless I think it is an interesting example of how a small falcon with wings supposedly tapering and becoming somewhat pointed, can appear a bit different to what one expects.

This morning, the 5 Purple Sandpipers were at their high tide roost by the castle at Aberystwyth and 22 Turnstones were on the nearby beach.
