Choughs

A social gathering of eleven choughs on the south cliffs at Aberaeron yesterday afternoon were sunning (raised wing posture) grooming and although some were probing in a small patch of grass others were pecking at bare soil suggesting geophagy.
While sunning is a fairly common behavior I have not seen it in choughs before. Only two of the birds were ringed but all appeared to be adult.
