Mor-Wennol Fechan
There were plenty of birds this morning at Llanrhystud including 2 Little Terns heading south, the first I've seen in the county. Left over from yesterday evening; 13 Wheatears, 5 White Wagtails, 3 Med Gulls among a large flock of gulls which inc 50 Common and a Fulmar offshore. 30 Sand Martins scrutinised the cliffs at close range. No waders to be seen though, so I headed down the coast to Llansantffraed where there were 7 Whimbrel and I was able to catch up with the Terns again which were fishing quite close to shore. The last time I saw Little Terns was many years go in Tunisia, flickering gracefully around a flock of Flamingos. I'd taken my wife on a day trip to the docks in Tunis harbour, a romantic gesture that failed to impress her for some reason.
