Aberporth Swifts, and other miscellaneous records...

To add to last week's swift posts: I counted 12 screaming round the converted Bryn Seion chapel in Aberporth last Friday. The nest entrances are both under the eaves and also in crevices in the gable end wall, that appear to have been left deliberately open during the building conversion (also very popular with the local House Sparrows!).  A good example of thoughtful building design.

Also last week, a pair of Mute Swans on the Teifi at Barley Mow, Lampeter with 5 young cygnets, and yesterday (approx) 50 Black-headed gulls at the Gorsgoch breeding colony. The nests are hidden amongst the emergent vegetation in the pool, so not really possible to count from the road edge (although I might have tried harder if it hadn't been raining so hard!). If anyone's passing that way in drier weather it might be worth a go?
