In recent weeks,
talking to various people, I have become increasingly concerned about how
many people don't realise just
how important EU laws are in protecting the UK's remaining wild habitats and
their wildlife. Things such as the Birds and Habitats Directives and the
Bathing Water Directive have forced successive UK governments into take measures
to protect our environment. If we leave the EU our current and future
governments won't have to comply with such laws and it will become far easier
for people to destroy our remaining patches of wilderness.
This alone convinces
me of the importance of voting to remain within the EU. I hope you feel the
same way, but if you are still uncertain or inclined to support the leave vote,

I am of no strong
political persuasion and don't normally get involved in politics, but it does
seem to me that the forthcoming EU referendum is vitally important. I am
convinced that our future and the future of our environment and its wildlife
would be badly affected if we leave the EU. And for this reason alone I am
voting remain. The environmental arguments are compelling
