January Cors Caron WeBS count

An enjoyable walk up the river - we delayed the count until today to allow river levels to drop. On the reserve (so unfortunately mostly not visible from public access points) 250 lapwing on the floodplain, over 50 snipe altogether which is the most I've counted for several years, also one jack snipe, a brief glimpse of a kingfisher, 120 wigeon on Maesllyn and 100 elsewhere, 4 moorhens there too. Three goosander on the river too. Not much on the floodplain south of the reserve, some Canadas and herons feeding on the fields by the river, along with three little egrets - I've not seen them feeding on grassland before.
I don't have all the figures from the Northern count section yet but there were nine whoopers there.
