I went to Llanon on Thursday afternoon and had a count of 213 Med Gulls most of
which were in a feeding frenzy on a stubble field with easily over 1000
Woodpigeons and 4 Stock Doves. In the evening after a few hours searching
there was no sign of the reported Common Rosefinch at Cross Inn Forest, which
was a shame.
During a seawatch from Ynyslas yesterday morning an Arctic Skua briefly chased a Herring Gull before heading off south, the King Eider was still present around the mouth of the Leri and there were 2 juvenile Sandwich Terns with decent numbers of adults at the Tern posts. 5 Sanderling dropped into the tern posts also.
Three nights ago a Common Sandpiper passed over my flat on Penglais campus . I have also been noticing really good numbers of Greenfinches around the conifers at the top of the university campus which is good to see.
