This morning on the rocky/pebbly foreshore towards Llansantffraed, to the south of the lime kilns, I counted 670 Golden Plovers (+/- five or six or so) and spent ages scanning through the flock searching for an American. Here is a small part of that flock:
While watching them the 'white' Oystercatcher flew across and settled near them:
A noisy Snipe flew up from the foreshore. Then this little chap perched close to me:Returning towards the beach car park at Llanrhystud I came across a Wheatear:
Behind it a Great Spotted Woodpecker was on one of the posts by the pebble embankment:
I then met Andre Morgan who had just seen a Snow Bunting on the embankment nearby and it was so close to him that his binoculars were not required. "You can't miss it" he said, but I did.
Finally, near the car park and just as Andre rejoined me this Kestrel perched, quite unconcerned at our presence, on a post beside the embankment. Digi-scoping was a challenge with the bright sun behind it:
A great morning!
