A wild goose chase

On a walk along the Clettwr this morning I failed to find any Greenland white-fronted geese but instead had a slavonian grebe, five great crested grebes and nine red-breasted mergansers together at the mouth of the Clettwr. A ring-tailed hen harrier was over Lodge Farm, 1200 golden plovers and around 2000 lapwings were on fields west of the river and four water pipits were feeding along the edge.
