Nightjar at Cross Inn Forest

I enjoyed a good view of a male Nightjar at Cross Inn Forest this evening, a few hundred yards from the car park. I was alerted by his churring followed by a few wing claps before he flew overhead and then perched on a conifer for a short while. However, I did not enjoy the huge number of midges around me.
