KESTRELS

Not able to join the Wednesday walk (see post of  20th which mentions Kestrels) I went down to New Quay early this morning for a brief visit. On 3rd June I noticed 5, possibly 6 eggs in the Kestrel's nest and 3 almost-fledged Ravens in a nest only a few yards away.
Today it was lovely to see 4, probably 5, possibly 6 little Kestrel chicks.
Kestrels have nested on that part of the coast for a few years now and generally successfully. The current nest site has previously been used by Herring Gulls and many years ago by Ravens.
