Llanrhystud to Llanon

I arrived at the beach car park at Llanrhystud this morning to find Marc Hughes just arrived.  After we'd exchanged pleasantries and had a look at the sea I drove to Llansantffraed and Marc strolled off towards the lime kilns.
Not a bad collection of birds at Llansantffraed:  seven Sandwich Terns and five Mediterranean Gulls later settled on the beach where there were 45 Oystercatchers, 35 Curlews, three Turnstones, a Redshank and a Greenshank. One of the Oystercatchers was the very distinctive mostly white bird, first seen in Jan 2006 and which usually turns up here in August after its spring and summer absence.
A very flighty flock of at least 40 Turnstones and a couple of Dunlin never did settle, at least within view, and neither did 17 Ringed Plovers.
Two Kestrels made an appearance, at one point hovering close together.
I ended up at Llanon, where there were two more Sandwich Terns and Med Gulls, and lots of mostly juv Swallows were feeding over the sea.
