My wife and I took the dog for a walk at
Llanrhystud yesterday in rather blustery conditions, walked up to lime kilns on
the field side but only saw 2 wheatear. Nothing at the kilns so walked back on
sea-ward side with tide just starting to go out.
Nothing on the sea but heard a
wader so looked around and found 4 turnstone, 2 ringed plover and another small
wader which couldn't get near enough to id. (only had bins).
Went and sat in car for coffee
and looked up the fence line towards caravan park and noticed bird flitting from
sheep fence into the long grasses and back.it worked its way towards me (for a
change) and as it got closer I thought, that's a male whinchat.
It ended up almost
at car park and dropped into the stubble where I spotted a female also. Had good
views of the pair for some minutes before they flew:made my morning.
