My usual Saturday morning visit to Castle Point, and as I was watching a Med Gull flying by, just happened to notice a Swift zipping around offshore. Good to see a September bird after a blank August.
Helen turned up, as she had on Friday, and we had a good count of 44 Med Gulls and two Sandwich Terns on College Rocks.
When I got there on Friday there were three Teal on the sea at Castle Point,, then Helen and I counted 14 Ringed Plover, five Turnstones and five Sandwich Terns. There was also a continuous northward passage of Manx Shearwaters for well over an hour; must have been quite a few hundreds. In contrast, not a single one on Sat.
