Llanon

Saw Andre briefly as he was leaving, who told me that he had seen one of the Lapland Buntings found by Arfon. Took some time to get brain into mode but eventually I managed to pick out three birds very close to the car park. I first got onto them by noticing that one individual was occasionally chasing the Skylarks about a bit and this turned out to be a Lapland Bunting. The little flocks were very flighty but not going far and with the sun behind me I was actually able to get pretty good close views as they rose up from the stubble. They looked noticeably smaller than the larks. I could just about tell that their call was different to the Skylarks but still not especially distinctive to my ears at any rate. At sea, 13 Teal and a RT Diver. On the way home in the fields above the village were 350 Golden Plover and 100 Lapwing.
