The weather was dry and warm
for this mornings meeting at Llanddewi
Brefi. A small group of us enjoyed a
very pleasant walk in the village
and the surrounding farmland. The list of
birds seen and heard was:
mallard, cormorant, buzzard, red kite, lesser
black-backed gull, wood
pigeon, collared dove, great-spotted woodpecker, pied
wagtail, wren,
dunnock, robin, blackbird, fieldfare, mistle thrush, song
thrush,
redwing (good numbers of these), blue tit, great tit,
nuthatch,
treecreeper, jay, jackdaw, crow, starling, house sparrow,
chaffinch,
brambling (a this winter first for all of us), and
goldfinch.
At the end of our walk we found an interesting but rather
worrying
group of harlequin ladybirds.
Many thanks to Karen Gregory
who led a very interesting walk and also
to David Price, another local, who
was happy to share his knowledge of
the area with members of the group who
were visiting for the first
time.
