Ynys-hir

Great birding again this morning from Ynys-hir’s Ynys Feurig hide.
The morning began with good close views of a male goshawk soaring directly over the hide  and then, in bright sunshine,  a female hen harrier came in from across the saltings. 7 grey plover and a black tailed godwit, 250 dunlin feeding on the estuary. 3 red kites over the grazing marsh. The main flooded area was frozen hard with only a few lapwing and curlew on the grassland and a few duck trying to land, eg 30 teal and a single shoveler.
On the walk down there were 4 mute swans, 3 red legged partridge on Ynys Edwin bog, and a calling lesser spotted woodpecker directly behind the hotel.
