At last; signs of spring offshore. A Gannet was only my second of the year here then John turned up and we spent a good half-hour staring at a birdless sea.
Things started to look up after he went off shopping as another couple of Gannets passed then two pairs of Bottle-nosed Dolphins made their leisurely way south. As I was watching them a Great Skua appeared, giving brief chase to a Kittiwake. The gull made its escape and the Bonxie continued northwards.
A few more odds and ends gave totals of five Gannets and three Kittiwakes south, two Shelducks and four Common Scoter north, two Shags on the outer rocks then last but not least, a Sandwich Tern flew in and settled on the rocks.
