Meadow Pipit mania

Incredible passage at Ynyslas today. From 6:45 to 9:20 1433 Meadow Pipits flew north. It then rained heavily until 11:20, as soon as the rain eased the floodgates opened and Meadow Pipit migration was incredible with around 1000 birds through in just over an hour. I finished the watch at 3:10pm with 4172 Meadow Pipits (the 4th highest british spring Meadow Pipit count according to Trektellen). Other birds north:
Merlin - 2
alba Wagtail sp. - 105
LBBG - 251
House Martin - 80
Swallow - 125
Tree Pipit - 9
Linnet - 681
Goldfinch - 216
Siskin - 16
Redpoll - 9
Common Tern - 1

South:

Marsh Harrier (female) - 1

Other birds included an Osprey fishing near the estuary mouth, 10 Sandwich Terns, 39 Ringed Plovers and 4 Wheatears and 4 White Wagtails were grounded at the point by the rain.
