Tried a session at Marian Mawr yesterday morning. Very enjoyable but migration was not easy to observe! Interesting that the hirundine migration which has been so evident over last few days had alomost stopped. Highlights were a cuckoo, 9 whimbrel and a steady inland movement of herring gulls. The only hirundines were 4 sand martins and 4 swallows. Very few finches with only 3 linnets, 10 goldfinches and a single lesser redpoll.
Other birds seen during the 4 hours I was there included 1 great white egret, 10 black tailed godwit, 11 curlew, 6 goosander, and a single coot, 6 teal and a drake shoveler on the pools.
