A circular trip yesterday around the top end of the valley where I saw
8 crossbills, 2 tree pipits including 1 near Anglers Retreat, both on recent
clear fell areas. Surprisingly I had a male pied flycatcher on the edge of
dense sitka spruce, and a singing wood warbler, again in an area of sitka. A
singing whinchat on Coronwen was my first of the year.
Highlights of a brief stop at Glandyfi this morning were 6
little egrets, 30 dunlin and 6 goosander (5 males and a female).
