A prolonged passage over a broad front of Manxies north up the coast early this morning seen from the Turn carpark.
In the carpark 2 fine young Wheatear fledglings were hunting for bugs.
Later we dropped down to YL and noticed the 'new' tern posts and were even more impressed by the cordoning off of the whole of the end of the YLas peninsula as protection for the breeding Ringed Plovers. At last NRW seem to be taking that part of the NNR seriously and dog walkers seem to be complying.
We saw at least 2 young plovers and one of the wardens said there were likely 3 more belonging to a second couple. If disturbance can be significantly reduced it can only be hoped that a larger number of birds will breed in the future.
On the saltings were at least 2 Meds in full breeding plumage and one other amongst the Black Headeds which were, sadly, all adults.
