Aberystwyth - Borth - Ynyslas

When I arrived at Castle Point this morning there were 53 med gulls and a Little Egret on College Rocks. The rising tide soon flushed off the med gulls and also revealed eight Turnstones and three Common Sandpipers at the point. Just two Sandwich Terns present.
Manx Shearwaters were also passing in large numbers, mostly heading north, so I followed them and stopped off at Borth lifeboat house, where 1970 manxies went north during a ten minute count. Looking up the bay, I could see thousands more.  A light passage of Swallows over the sea continued as I drove up to Ynyslas, with good numbers over the golf course and estuary.
At Ynyslas Russell was scanning the estuary.  He had spent some time at the brickhouse, and estimated 15 - 20000 manxies present,
Large numbers of terns in the estuary, all Sandwich.  Russell did a count and came up with 350 - 400.  Some were well upriver where they were feeding with a few Gannets.
Small numbers of the usual waders around, i.e. Dunlin 27, Ringed Plover 7, Redshank 3.
