I believe that Stephen Forster is correct in saying that it is the more unusual
birds that hit windows and I also believe that it is because these bird
casualties are on unfamiliar ground, in other words visitors. This was
illustrated to us by a robin that hit the window, it was placed in a warm box to
recover. When it was released it was immediately attacked by the resident robin
as an intruder. I also believe that these birds on unfamiliar ground are the
birds most likely to be taken by predators.
