Close encounters of the Nightjar kind

Paul Bennett visited Cross Inn Forest last night. After hearing a reeling Grasshopper Warbler near the T-junction he was back at the recent clearfell when a loudly calling Tawny Owl attracted his attention. As he stopped to look for the owl he felt the wind on his ear as a Nightar brushed past. The bird, a female, made a couple more close passes, and a male began churring. Paul then had several more great views of the female on his way back to the car. Quite an end to an evening dog walk.
